One man named Athar Yaad Ali jumped into a 22 wheeler truck with failed brakes and was able to stop it. Athar said “It didn’t stop and I realised that I had to do something to stop it”. He saw the driver of the truck jump out of the truck and knew there could be casualties if the truck were to continue down the road with no driver. Athar’s family was against him jumping onto the truck but Athar knew he had to do it.
As he entered the truck he managed to control the steering wheel but realized the brakes had failed. Athar said “I knew that I could make it, even though the vehicle didn’t stop for a further two kilometres”. His wife noticed that he was driving down the middle of the road with cars still on the motorway. His son said ““I was helpless and very scared. When I saw the lorry go down the slope, I thought I had lost my dad”. Athar was able to stop the runaway truck without any casualties.
