When an officer died before he could make his kids first day of school, dozens of police officers decided to do something about it. Officer Justin Scherlen died recently after complications from a crash that occurred while he was on duty but his fellow officers knew he would not miss his kids first day so they made a big effort to make sure they could be there instead.
Dozens of officers surprised everyone when they were seen escorting the kids and handing out hugs. The school district was amazed at the sight of all the officers and wrote that it was an “army of stand-ins for this important first.”
Officer Daniel Smith said “I’d give it all back just to have Justin here with his son.”
