Denmark Solves Land Shortage By Planning To Create Artificial Islands

Architects have solved Copenhagen’s land shortage problem by planning to build artificial islands where people can live and play. Marshall Bleecher built a prototype island to be followed by many larger islands.

Bleecher said “It was developed to introduce life and activity to Copenhagen’s rapidly developing harbour and to bring back some of the whimsy that has been lost in its development,”

He designed islands to include a stage, mussel farm, sauna and cafe. These ideas have expanded to parks made up of artificial islands.
